Fall 2024 (Sept-Nov) YouTube Music Recap

My Fall (September to November) 2024 Recap playlist was released in the early hours of November 20th. Although I continue to wish for a full recap for this season, if only an overview of my top artists and tracks, all I have is a playlist of the songs I listened to the most. I’ll get into that in a second.

I can also share that my listening time during the fall is 3,784 minutes, which I calculated using my total listening time for the year. That’s much lower than in the other seasons, specifically 382 minutes less than in the summer.

Top Fall Track

BOYNEXTDOOR’s “Nice Guy” came out on top this season. BOYNEXTDOOR is a new-to-me group that I’ve been experimenting with lately. They first came to my notice with “Earth, Wind, and Fire.” It’s an energetic and quirky song, with the way that certain parts of the chorus sped up so they sound like chipmunks. It makes me smile. I’m still not sure if I’m all the way in with them yet, but their chances increased quite a bit with the release of their latest album,19.99, and its lead single “Nice Guy.”

“Nice Guy” is one of my latest Studio Choom obsessions. I first heard the song through their performance and immediately liked it. It’s cute song with a good beat. It’s about a guy who’s trying to convince a girl that he likes to go out with him. It boasts about his reputation, his positive qualities, and his physical appearance: “Look at my eyes/Look at my lines, my girl/You like it right?” They perform the song with tons of slick attitude and confidence, but the girl apparently still needs some convincing. Dumb girl.

I watched the performance more times than I can count. Their outfits are fashionably casual. They’re great dancers. Even my mom commented on their skills when she saw the video in passing. They make the lively choreography look fun yet effortless. It’s a very laidback atmosphere. Then Taesan has to go and change the vibe by grabbing Sungho’s head and whispering the last line (“Good night, baby”) against the side of his face. That was an attack on my soul!

The Other Songs

The rest of the list isn’t a surprise. There’s nothing that didn’t show up at some point or in some fashion during the year.

Three of the five tracks are from NCT. That’s two fewer than last year at this time. NCT 127’s “Walk” drops from the top spot in the summer to #2. Their song “Fact Check,” which was #3 in the spring, drops to #5. Lastly, there’s WayV’s Japanese track “Go Higher” at #3, which is the title track for their EP of the same name that ranked at #3 in the summer.

The only other non-NCT song is Enhypen’s “Brought the Heat Back.” Like with WayV, this song didn’t rank on any of my lists this year, but the EP it’s from, ROMANCE: UNTOLD, was my #5 Summer Album.

Conclusion

So, that was my Fall “Recap.” I think it was pretty accurate. I loved (and continue to love) all of these songs. Coming up, I’ll talk about my year-end stats, which dropped the same day as this playlist.
